Her advocacy journey ignited when her daughter, Dempsey, identified as transgender, fueling Jaime's relentless pursuit for secure and accepting environments. Their story, showcased on HBO's acclaimed series "We're Here", and their recognition through the 2022 Voice of Equality Award, underscore their significant impact. As a Florida high school history educator, Jaime infuses conversations with knowledge, humor, and a soothing presence. Her calm exterior masks a fierce tenacity to champion a more inclusive world. Jaime is often found advocating at rallies, engaging with politicians in the media, and writing compelling articles for Them and Love What Matters. She collaborates with journalists from VICE News, MSNBC, and the Washington Post to ensure accurate representation of transgender youth. Jaime is more than just an exceptional person; she's a steadfast advocate for the transgender community, motivated by her daughter Dempsey's experience and her unwavering dedication to safety, acceptance, and love. Our Culture
Intersectionality is a powerful framework that helps us understand the complexity of social identities and the interconnectedness of social issues. By embracing intersectionality and working together, we can create a better world for everyone. It requires us to listen to and uplift marginalized voices, collaborate across movements, challenge our own biases, and strive for systemic change. Only through collective efforts can we build a more inclusive and equitable society, where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
